Permanent Diaconate Office


A diocesan office to administer all matters pertaining to the permanent diaconate, established by the bishop of Hamilton and under his direct authority.


The overall function of the Diaconate office is:

1. Under direct authority of the Bishop of Hamilton

2. To work in conjunction with the Diocesan Diaconate Committee

3. To establish, develop and administer the philosophy and policy, enquiry, selection, formation and ongoing formation of the permanent Diaconate and permanent deacons in the Diocese of Hamilton.


As determined by the bishop of the diocese, and the New Zealand Bishops’ Conference and outlined and approved by the Sacred Congregation of the Clergy and the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education
